Before you write

Sign in. There is no native login wall. Use the YouTube avatar on the page.
Ads or Shorts came back. Check the Ads and Shorts controls in the app title bar. Both default off; either can be turned on.
A sponsor segment did not skip. Skip sponsors uses community timestamps. It is on by default and can be turned off in Settings (⌘,). It is separate from the Ads control.
A link from Chrome did not open here. The companion extension only handles watch, playlist, and Shorts URLs, and only after a click (or if you enabled auto-forward). Home and search stay in the browser.
Picture in Picture has no speed. That is the system PiP. Speed lives on the desk window and on youtube.com.
